to St. Louis, Missouri
Well... no Ghostbusters III announcement. We'd really, really like to do this convention, but without the film to get people excited about Ghostbusters, we can't expect more than about 50-100 attendees. Since we don't think you'd very much like to attend such a small convention, we're putting this on hiatus until there's more interest in the movies so that we can afford to make it as good as we want it to be. Until then, the Greater St. Louis Ghostbusters will continue to do GB-themed events around town and show up at local cons for Ghostbusters panels. Kawa Kon and Archon, two of our local conventions, may very well have some Ghostbusters programming in 2012. Stay tuned to the doings of the GSTLGBs on our facebook page!

So I'm sure you, just like every other Ghostbusters fan in the world, was disappointed that there was no announcement about Ghostbusters 3 at San Diego Comic Con this past summer. We're not going to repeat rumors, but we are planning to host Ecto Con in 2012 whether there is a third movie or not! Planning for the convention is going well, so we see no reason not to have the con.
Until we hear anything about the filming schedule (and Dan Aykroyd gets his "production number") for the proposed third film, we won't make many announcements. If you live in the St. Louis area, consider joining the Greater St. Louis Ghostbusters. Check us out on facebook, and come to some meetings. We'll be at events all over town (and the Midwest) in 2011.

May 13, 2010 - Still Waiting on Dates...
We are just an ERM's (Egg-Roll-Mass) length away from having dates for Ecto Con. While we have our location pretty much decided, we just can't move ahead with dates until we find out when Ghostbusters III (hopefully) goes into production. Obviously, we want to coincide the convention with the new movie and do not want to conflict with the shooting schedules of the original actors, should we have some of them as possible guests of honor...
Whatever happens, we are definitely doing Ecto Con!

Please be patient while we create our website. The ugly template will be gone soon. The convention will be officially announced at our upcoming convention Bishie Con, on Saturday, November 21, during the Crossplay Drag Show halftime. A short promotional video will be shown. Ecto Con has been secretly in the works for several months, a pet project of the Kawa Kon chairs. During our early planning phase, we referred to this event as the "Cosmic Eggroll", a vague reference to the novelization of the original Ghostbusters. Ecto Con will take place sometime in late 2011 and seeks to be the coolest place on earth for Ghostbusters fans to be that weekend. Some of the planned activities include parties, prop-making workshops, a totally awesome 80s-themed dance, paranormal studies panels, and a ghost tour of St. Louis. - MIkhail Lynn, Con Chair
